As said, we like to take some of our favorite Pop tunes and put our own unique spin on them, maybe adding or subtracting, adding a different feel. God Only Knows is no exception. The song started out as a slow Latin type of tune and evolved almost into a ballad. Has a few parts with no relation to the original Beach Boys classic. Such as a mixed meter (3/4 to 2/4 to 3/4) intro, a solo section that only returns to the original chord sequence in the last 8 measures, (bringing the tune Back Home), a coda that jams out on its own. Bobby, Tony, and Alex had a very sensitive, masterful take on this. One of our best songs, on the record and out in public, where I get to express myself again on soprano. In concert we open-up the solo section for piano and even bass, never playing more than a single chorus as such. God Only Knows was well received and got some good national airplay and positive reviews, along with the rest of the album.
